The choir rehearses every Tuesday at the American Cathedral, 23 avenue Georges V, 75008, Paris, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, except during school holidays (approx. 32 rehearsals a year from mid-September to mid-June).
The choir director and the artistic director are both Black American artists who have lived and worked in Paris for many years. Musically speaking, they bring the choir a rich and culturally diverse repertoire with a teaching style “À l’Américaine.” They have a commitment to positive reinforcement in an atmosphere of non-judgment and “no danger.” All singers are welcome, and there is no audition in order to join.
The choir usually holds 3 concerts a year and has the opportunity to travel in France and abroad to spread our joy. The international trips are opportunities for the choir members to feel and realize that the connection that they have created as a choir can be realized on a broader scale. Within the past few years, Singing Earth Divine has sung in Israel, at Carnegie Hall (NYC), in several regions of France (Normandy, Vaucluse), and of course, in Paris (The Madeleine Church, the American Church in Paris).
News! In March 2020, a few choir members will perform at Lincoln Center (NYC), and in July 2020 we will participate in the World Choir Games competition in Antwerp, Belgium!
